Ohana is proud to spotlight our limited edition ukuleles in rare Black and White Ebony. This wood is sought after for its unique patterning in blonde and dark to black marbling. Our -15BWE and -70BWE series makes use of the naturally unmistakable graining, but also of this wood’s inherent luster. Found mainly in Laos, and across Southeast Asia, the wood is often used to create striking objects d’art for the home.
"When I saw the samples of raw material, it was instantly obvious this gorgeous wood could make a marvelous and beautiful instrument! I chose to offer it with a solid spruce top, as the coloring is complimentary, and the solid spruce lends a brightness to the tone with additional projection. The high gloss finish was a no brainer—the marbling already echoes liquid, and the high gloss helps to bring out that fluid feeling."
The 70BWE features a solid Spruce top with Black and White Ebony back and sides, wood binding, and a Black and White Ebony rosette inlay.
The 15BWE series features Black and White Ebony top, back and sides with wood binding in a gloss finish.
These black and white ebony ukuleles are a favorite amongst our dealers for how unique each individual instruments is, and our included Ohana Set-Up ensures each one is a joy to play and hear. The -15BWE series are available in soprano and concert scale, while the -70BWE series is available in soprano, concert, and tenor scale.
