NAMM 2025 Recap

February 04, 2025

NAMM came back in full swing this year and it was inspiring to see our community come together in celebration of music. This year, Ohana debuted new additions and fan favorites that were displayed at the booth - from ukuleles to acoustic guitars, accessories and percussion instruments. We also showcased one-of-kind handmade ukuleles masterbuilt in the Ohana Custom Shop by our very own Brad Kahabka. To our dealers, distributors, artists, Ohana fans and new faces to the brand, thank you for coming by and connecting with us. Continue reading for an overview of this year’s highlights at the Ohana NAMM booth.

Ohana Custom Shop Debuts Eclectic Creations

Ohana Ukuleles opened its custom shop in 2024 with all hand-crafted instruments made in the USA.  Exquisite, one-of-a-kind custom instruments are fully designed and manufactured at Ohana’s headquarters in Long Beach, California. The team handles every step of the process, from technical design, artistic creation, tonewood selection, and sourcing to instrument-building led by a single in-house luthier.  The Shop, and the design philosophy behind it, is a mix of traditional techniques and tools combined with modern equipment and innovation to build every instrument from scratch.

Shown below are four newly released instruments from NAMM that showcase the exotic tonewoods used for their soundboards and back and sides.  As an acoustic company, the tonal quality of instruments is our number one consideration. The choice of woods for an instrument’s sound box, neck, fingerboard, bridge, and binding, along with its internal bracing, bracing patterns, and strings, all contribute to the uniqueness of its tone, balance, sustain, and articulation.

LIMITED-EDITION KOA MODELS

The TK-570G and TK-575G are new Koa models from Ohana in 2025. Both feature selected Koa lumber from Hawaii, which has warm, rich colors with unrivaled iridescence and curl. Each comes with a full set of book-matched curly koa for its top, back, and sides. The fingerboard on the TK-570G is inlaid in abalone with beautiful songbirds that also serve as fingerboard markers. TK-575G has a sound hole decorated with an elegant inlay of wood and abalone rosette, and Pāua Abalone can be found throughout the instrument. It comes with a classic slotted headstock, wood inlay on the fingerboard, and a special beveled edge for extra comfort during playing. Each Koa instrument from Ohana includes a deluxe hard case, a humidifying pack, and a cleaning cloth.

The TK-45 is made with locally sourced Curly Redwood, a rare and prized variant of the iconic Coastal Redwood tree species. Redwood is light and resonant and is an ideal soundboard for acoustic instruments. Ohana added the TK-6 to its limited-edition lineup in 2024. The sound-board is constructed with Sitka Spruce, and Acacia back and sides. The instrument comes with a simple yet elegant wood inlay rosette, and the body is bound with mahogany wood on top and bottom. TK-6 also features an elegantly shaped beveled edge that provides additional comfort during playing.

Last but not least is the CK-450, our top-of-the-line Koa model, crafted in simple yet classy elegance to allow the wood and its tone to shine through. A slotted headstock design reserved for our higher-end models elevates the look of this Limited Edition.

TINY MANGO PINEAPPLES

Our collection of pineapples continues to grow! Front and center at NAMM were the sopranissimo (TTPK-220G), sopranino (TPK-220G), and soprano (PK-220G) models that joined our existing concert (PKC-220G) and tenor (PKT-220G) sizes. This family of solid mango pineapple models is complemented by generous abalone inlay all along the front, and classy wood binding up and down the sides.

OHANA FLUOROCARBON STRINGS

Refresh your playing with new strings that add a brighter sound and tonal clarity, while also being softer to the touch, all without breaking the bank. Ohana Fluorocarbon strings give your ukulele a fresh, clear sound with plenty of projection. Compatible with standard size scale lengths. Made in Japan.

FOLDING UKE STANDS & HARD CASES

The US-40 Multi-purpose Folding Uke Stand is one stand for any size! This wooden A-frame stand folds out to provide a secure base for optimal display with minimal distraction. The stand comes with a felt carrying bag with a drawstring for easy storage and travel. You can use it with sopranissimo to baritone size ukuleles and it also fits violins, violas, mandolins, and ukulele basses.

Our new, stylish UCA Gray ABS Hard Cases help players protect and carry their ukuleles. The UCA-xx is a ukulele hardshell case that is very durable and provides excellent protection for your instrument. It features a shaped wood case, and a plush interior which keeps the instrument in place.

A special thank you to all these creative minds that joined forces with us at NAMM.
